Steam Engine – 3D Model SolidWorks
A steam engine is a heat engine that converts the kinetic energy of water vapor into work. Since the combustion process takes place outside the heat engine, it is an external combustion engine. Pumps, locomotives, and ships were once driven by steam engines. Steam engines played a fundamental role in the Industrial Revolution. Today’s nuclear and thermal power generation still use steam turbine engines to convert heat energy into electrical energy. A steam engine requires a boiler that boils water to produce high-pressure steam. This boiler can use wood, coal, oil or natural gas or even garbage as a heat source. The steam expands and pushes the piston to do work.
