Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is an American aircraft and helicopter manufacturer. It was founded in 1923 by Russian-American aircraft engineer Eger Sikorsky. The company is headquartered in Statford, Connecticut. Sikorsky designed the first stable single-engine steerable helicopter and began mass production in 1942.
In 1934, Sikorsky became a subsidiary of United Aircraft Corporation (now United Technologies Corporation). Sikorsky is one of the major helicopter manufacturers in the United States, and its most famous product is the UH-60 Black Hawk. The helicopter used by the President of the United States (Marine One) has also been using Sikorsky products. Currently, the Marine One fleet consists of one VH-3 (H-3 Seahorse) and one VH-60 (UH-60 Black Hawk).
