NAO is a 57 cm tall programmable humanoid robot. Its key components are as follows:
It has a body with 25 degrees of freedom (DOF), and its key components are motors and actuators.
A series of sensors: 2 cameras, 4 microphones, 1 ultrasonic distance sensor, 2 infrared transmitters and receivers, 1 inertial board, 9 tactile sensors and 8 pressure sensors.
Devices for self-expression: speech synthesizer, LED lights and 2 high-quality speakers.
A CPU (located in the robot head) running a Linux kernel and supporting ALDEBARAN’s proprietary middleware (NAOqi).
A second CPU (located in the robot’s torso).
A 55 watt-hour battery, which can provide NAO with 1.5 hours or even longer autonomy depending on how it is used.
